Step by Step School is an independent school based on the outskirts of East Grinstead for pupils aged 4-19 with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

Are you looking for a career in Teaching, Psychology, Occupational Health or Speech and Language therapy? Then Step By Step School could be a great starting point.

Over the past few years, we have thoroughly enjoyed supporting students during their placement year and we are delighted that some students are continuing to work with us part time on their return to their university degree.

We are always looking to support our staff in gaining further qualifications and experience, to support you in achieving your ultimate goals and aspirations. We have a wealth of experienced staff in teaching, OT and SALT that you can learn from.

I thoroughly enjoyed the training opportunities and sense of community that SBS gave me. I learnt a lot from each staff member and pupil that I worked with: I was able to gain inspiration for my final year project, and learnt many soft skills that are proving helpful during my final year at university. I felt very supported and valued right from the start of my placement year and wish my time there could have lasted longer!

I'm loving my time at placement. The children are so lovely and its great to always finish my day with a smile on my face! There's been so many links to my current studies as an undergraduate psychology student. The staff are so welcoming and understanding and provide immense support from the beginning and throughout my journey at Step by Step.

Before starting my placement year at Step by Step I was a little nervous, as I hadn't done anything like this before. However I instantly got stuck into it, and have enjoyed it thoroughly. I learn something new each day and really enjoy it.
