Step by Step school is now a member of the RHS campaign for school Gardening. The Campaign aims to support school staff, home educators and youth group leaders with training, resources and advice, so they can encourage young people to explore the outdoors and learn how to care for plants and our planet. The five-level rewards scheme provides achievable goals that will help the school turn gardening and planting activities into valuable learning resources. Once all levels completed, the school will receive a certificates and rewards worth up to £200.

We have had a very successful year at the allotment. The pupils have been planting, growing and harvesting plants for the school. Through these activities, they have developed social skills, independence and made links to areas of the curriculum such as science, literacy and mathematics. We have now officially gained the recognised level one certificate for the school as well as a receiving supporting materials such as seeds and learning resources. We hope to develop this further by introducing additional plating opportunities that all pupils can access while completing the level 2 award.
