Golf Day fundraiser raises £10900

The story continues with another amazingly successful Golf Day fundraiser organised by David Hylton and an army of generous friends, supporters and golf club staff.

“Every year I am lost for words when reporting back with the final tally for the charity golf day at Epsom Golf Club. This year was no different. Including the £1,000 match funding donated by Barclays Bank, the total raised is £10,900, an extraordinary and humbling result. ” Said David.

With the dreadful weather we’d had the day before, 88 golfers were delighted to wake up on the Friday to find a much better day. In the evening, 104 sat down to an excellent meal exquisitely presented by Sean Howells and his team at Chefs Larder and brilliantly served by Steve Ayling and his staff. Raffle tickets were sold by the bucket load raising £1,025 and the auction found Epsom Golf Club members and guests digging deep to buy the quality items generously donated by our supporters.

School Admin manager Sam Matthews made her debut at the event – promising to be back next year, while David’s grandson, Harry proudly won “Best Golfer under 12 Award”. The audience enjoyed a wonderful speech by club President David Barrows while Sian Kelly, Jurgita Rindinaite and Deputy School Director Charlotte Cochrane were honoured to represent the school. Charlotte expressed her gratitude on behalf of Step by Step:

“The School would like to give heartfelt thanks to David Hylton, his family and all in attendance at the Golf Day for their generous donations. Our provision is significantly enhanced by the funds and equipment we have received over the years. Those of us who were fortunate enough to attend the event were overwhelmed by everyone’s hospitality, encouragement and continuous support.”

The evening was marked by an outstanding act of kindness with the catering staff donating all their tips, totalling £260, back to the charity – an awesome gesture that speaks volumes for them all.

Finally, David’s grandson, one of our pupils, had recorded a special message to thank everyone “for raising money for my school Step by Step”.

As David says every time. No pressure for next year!
